01. DISCUSS: TO BE/NOT TO BE – CONTENT?

Philippians 4:11-13

I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content whatever the circumstances. I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do everything through him who gives me strength. 
 
 
 
 
 
 
[Q] How should a Christian always be content in life?

Philippians 3:10-14

I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead. Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus. 
 
[Q] How should a Christian never be content in their life?
 

 

“An important point: God coming into our lives and keeping God at the center of our lives are two different actions. 

  1. The first action is God’s initiative, completed when he broke down the wall of sin that separated us from him.
  2. The second action doesn’t happen automatically; it is something we can only do aided by the power of the Holy Spirit.”
 

How Do I Keep God at the Center of My Life?

“What good is it for a man to gain the whole world, yet forfeit his soul?” (Mark 8:36)

“But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:33)

  

  1. How do we keep God first while serving; our family, our profession, our community, and our church? (and how does embracing our suffering and death helps us in our present calling?)

 

 

2. How much of your life “just happens”? …  just happen to get married, just happened to have this job, just happen to lose weight? Just happen to be good at _____________?

 

 

3. Does keeping our confirmation vow “just happen”? Does Paul’s “wanting to know more” and “pressing on” just happen in our lives?

03. SERVE: Connect the dots  

Find someone in your web of relationships and connect the dot. Embrace that relationship and work for it and explore why they are in your life.
 
Start by doing something simple by doing something kind. Offer to pick up dinner for them or run errands. Just give them a call or send them a text and let them know you’re excited to be able to meet up with them at some point.
